ONE (1) DAY – ATHENS PRIVATE CITY TOUR:

Experience a full-day private tour in of Athens, including an overview of the modern city and striking contrasts of the remains of its glorious past.:

Begin with the world renowned Acropolis with its many monuments atop its rocky base, including the Parthenon, the Propylae, the Temple of Athena Niki, The Erechtheion with its Porch of Maidens.  

Visit The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in front of Parliament House on Constitution Square, the Panathenian Stadium (site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896).  You will see vistas of the Presidential Palace (ex Royal Palace), government buildings, and elegant homes.

Continue along Panepistimiou Avenue to view the Catholic Cathedral, the “Neoclassical Trilogy,” (Academy of Athens, University of Athens, National Library) then drive by Omonia Square.

Visit Temple of Olympian Zeus and Adrian’s arch.

Take a walk through Plaka (old Athens) and stop for shopping and lunch. After lunch drive you to the new Acropolis museum, a truly unique architectural and modern piece in the world, visit the Roman agora and the Greek ancient agora.

For smaller groups doing this tour by taxi or sedan car, (all other vehicles are not able to drive through the extremely narrow streets) drive to Lycabettus Hill the highest hill of Athens, with its Orthodox St. George Church - enjoy the spectaculars view, if time permits enjoy a coffee or refreshing drink – no doubt you will remember Athens for the rest of your life.
